Enjoy the colour and drama of India’s festive pageantry
Goa Carnival, Goa
February heralds the carnival in Goa. For three days and nights, the streets come alive with colour and gaiety. The weeklong event is a time for lively processions, floats, the strumming of guitars, graceful dances and of non-stop festivity. The Carnival is unique to Goa in India, and was introduced by the Portuguese who ruled over Goa for over four centuries.. Huge parades are organised throughout the state with bands, dances and floats out all night on the streets, and grand balls held in the evenings.
