Blankets made from sheep wool or chuktuk, carved woodwork, furniture, signs, symbols and blankets are the main handicrafts of the Lachen community. Weaving carpets has been an age old practice of the Lachenpas, with many households owning a loom to meet their personal needs.
Gaining in popularity, the craft is no longer home bound, and is being marketed widely outside village precincts. Visit to the Handloom and Handicraft centre to view the weaving of traditional blankets and carpets gives an insight into the local industry.
The Angora Rabbit Farm at Rabom also produces the distinct wool caps of this region, and other products from Angora wool. A popular tourist stop over is at the Rabom Angora Rabit Farm to buy souvenirs.
