Chougan is situated on the edge of the Narmada River in the state of Madhya Pradesh, at a distance of 32 kms away from the Mandla town. Bhopal, the state capital, is nearly 430 kms from the site.

BY AIR: Airports are located at Jabalpur (125 kms), Nagpur and Raipur, both about 300 km away. Hire a direct taxi from the airport or take a train from Nagpur to Mandla.

BY TRAIN: Visitors can enjoy the narrow gage train journey from Jabalpur and Nagpur stations to Mandla fort, through forests and mountainous village landscapes, to reach Mandla Fort rail station. From there, 30 km of road travel is required to reach Chougan.
