Ballavpur Danga has a strong lineage of tribal craftsmanship, which is passed on from one generation to another with improvisation. The artistic bent of mind of the tribal is reflected in the commodities of daily use. They are skilled in mat weaving and basket making, broom binding and fan making; making ornaments with bena grass, date leaf, palm leaf and various kinds of seeds; terracotta and batik work; carpentry and leather work. They also make musical instruments, which are unique to this region.
Beautiful murals adorn the walls and floors of the tribal homes. The colours are derived from red earth and cow dung. The themes of the murals are inspired by nature or are pictorial presentation of various stances extracted from the traditional dance forms.
