A sacred site for the Hindus, Sultanganj, located on the banks of the Ganges 20 km west of Bhagalpur. The place is famous for its ancient temple of Ajghaibinath Siva. Devotees going to Babadham at Deoghar in Jharkhand on foot, carrying water, usually fill their pots from the Ganges at Sultanganj after taking a holy bath here.
Famous as the silk city of India, Bhagalpur is an important town of commercial significance.
