Santhigiri Ashram situated amidst of sylvan surroundings at Pothencode, 21 kms away from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala. Santhigiri Ashram, founded by Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru is well known for its spirituality beyond Religion and traditional Indian Medical treatmentsystems. Established in 1964 as an austere thatched hut in rustic environs, the Ashram complex today occupies more than fifty hectares of land consisting of three zones. Spiritual Zone, Agriculture Zone and Health Zoneare those three zones extend exquisite scenic beauty.
The ‘Parnasala’, built in the shape of a full-bloomed lotus in pristine white Makrana marble, is the sacred spot where the physical body of Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru, the founder of Santhigiri Ashram, has been laid to rest and is the highlight of the Ashram. The magnificent structure, rising to a height of 91 ft. and a width of 84 ft was opened to the public on 12th September 2010, the 84th birthday of the Guru. The ‘Parnasala’ is illuminated by using the latest, highly energy-efficient and eco-friendly Light-Emitting Diode (LED) technology.LED light and sound show at Lotus Parnasala is scheduled from 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm daily.
Santhigiri health zone consists of Siddha Medical College Hospital, Santhigiri Ayurveda Health Research Institute, Santhigiri Ayurveda and Siddha Vaidyasala, Manufacturing unit of ayurveda siddha medicines and Santhigiri Social and Scientific Research Institutes. The traditional Kerala Panchakarma therapyoffered by Santhigiri Ayurveda Health Research Institute is agreat attraction forboth domestic and international tourists. Santhigiri Siddha medical college provides international level facility for the treatment of several chronic ailments.
