Paradip: the Ocean City of Odisha
Paradip is a very popular vacation spot in Odisha. One of the undisputed highlights of the state, the place is one of the oldest ports in the world and home to an array of travel attractions. Some 2,500 years ago the maritime traders of the state regularly set sail for Indonesia and mainland Southeast Asia from here. The port estate is a sprawling green area and the township has the necessary infrastructure and amenities. Paradip is a vibrant township and an island of excellence. Apart from the efficient Deep Sea Port, sights of tourist interest include ‘Muhana Point’ the confluence of the Mahanadi and the Bay of Bengal.
The white sands of the light house beach, the musical fountain at the sylvan gardens of “Smruti Udyan”, a memorial to the victims of the super cyclone of 1999 are the other places of interest. A maritime museum and an aquarium equipped with 28 tanks consisting of a variety of marine and fresh water species of fish are the latest attractions for the visitors to the Port.
It is the biggest aquarium of Odisha. Different types of sea animals are kept here.
